Rocky Mountain River Surfing was founded in 2011. Our mission is simple, to bring the exciting and unique sport of River Surfing to the masses. The great thing about the action/adventure sport of river surfing is that it gives the landlocked an opportunity to surf, despite that we are hundreds of kilometres away from the nearest ocean!
The bluff runs along the northern bank of the Bow River as it flows through the centre of the city. It was named after Felix McHugh, who homesteaded this property and was a prominent early entrepreneur. In 2004, Calgary launched a project to restore and develop the bluff into a natural park. Though the park is close to the city centre, because of the steep grade it does not have a history of intensive human use. Currently however, on any given day, there is an extremely high volume of commuters, joggers and dog walkers using the lateral pathways and trails.
Since 2009, Beacon Original Art has been providing a professional space in Calgary for emerging and professional artists to sell their art works. We encourage all painters, sculptors, photographers, ceramic, glass, jewelry and textile artists to apply to participate in our art shows.
