The biggest and brightest love it here. Canada's largest national park is also home to the world's largest dark sky preserve. Step outside your tent at Pine Lake and glimpse at the beautiful night sky, with more stars peppering the dark than you've probably ever seen. Want an even better view? Check out the dark sky viewing platform. Wood Buffalo National Park was designated a Canadian Dark Sky Preserve by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) in 2013. This designation preserves habitat for almost a dozen owl species, bats, and other nocturnal animals.
