One of the most beautiful views in all of Wood Buffalo National Park, the Salt River Day Use Area offers access to several of the park's best trails, a picnic area and shelter, and a gorgeous view of the Salt River. Located on Pine Lake Road, just after the southern entrance to the park, you'll find the trailhead for Karstland Interpretive Trail (750m). Access to Salt River Meadows Loop (1.5km), South Loop (9km), and North Loop (7.5km) are available from the parking lot. These trail systems offer an opportunity to explore the unusual landscape of Wood Buffalo National Park, home to caves, sinkholes, and underground streams. The park contains the best example of gypsum karst terrain in North America. You can also park here and access the Grosbeak Lake trail and Salt Pan Lake, which are just up the road.
