Dinosaur Valley Half Marathon is an annual three event foot race held in Drumheller Alberta each September. The event comprises of 21.1K, 10K and 5K distances. The 21.1 and 10K courses are Athletics Canada Certified. The shortest course is dubbed the 5K family fun run and intended to be such. Segments of each course run along the scenic Red Deer river. Those that compete in the 21.1 will experience the Drumheller Badlands up close. Races and awards culminate before noon leaving ample time to continue exploring the valley.
The Plaid Goat MTB Festival is 3-day cultural celebration revelling in the mountain bike stoke of the Canadian Rockies. The weekend will include a main expo/festival, bike demos for Demo-licious Days wristband holders, group rides, a craft beer tent, km's on end of great Canadian Rockies singletrack, a bike rodeo and a few surprises! The aim of the Plaid Goat MTB Festival is to support an annual regional reinvestment program that will give back to groups dedicated to enhancing mountain bike trails across the province via the creation of a Ride the Rockies Regional Trails Fund.
As one of the top 10 Gran Fondo bicycle events in Canada we offer riding distances from 50 km to 162 km. Ride your bike along the beautiful Red Deer river valley, take in fabulous vistas, the unusual badlands terrain (watch out for the dinosaurs!), cross the river on the ferry and ride over 10 wooden bridges into Wayne (population of 26) on your way to the Baconsaurus Station. There are fully stocked aid stations enroute and a great lunch after your ride. Staying overnight? Join the fun at our special pre-event dinner.
