Wildhorse Lake Provincial Recreation Area, near Hinton in Alberta’s Northern Rockies, offers quiet lakeside camping and paddling for a peaceful mountain escape. Travellers can fish this small mountain lake from shore or from a non-motorized or electric-powered boat, taking in calm water and surrounding forested slopes. The area also invites exploration on land, with opportunities for mountain biking and hiking on nearby routes. Campers will find 19 drive-up sites suited to tents or small units, plus 3 walk-in tenting sites for a more secluded stay close to nature. The recreation area sits off Highway 16, about 25 km southwest of Hinton, making it an accessible base for low-key outdoor adventure in the Northern Rockies.
