Sulphur Gates Campground

Sulphur Gates Provincial Recreation Area is a scenic and rugged campground located near Grande Cache, where the Sulphur and Smoky Rivers meet. Open year-round, it offers 15 unserviced campsites and 22 equestrian sites complete with corrals, hitching rails, and loading ramps. The area is a popular base for horseback riders and hikers heading into Willmore Wilderness Park. A short trail from the campground leads to dramatic cliffside viewpoints overlooking the river canyons. Facilities are rustic, including fire pits, pit/vault toilets, and a hand pump for water. Campers are encouraged to bring their own drinking water and local firewood. With its stunning landscape and access to remote backcountry trails, Sulphur Gates is ideal for those seeking a quiet, nature-focused escape or staging area for wilderness adventures.
