Come and explore Lesser Slave Lake north of Slave Lake, Alberta and get close to nature with the Slave Lake Region Tourism Society's Kayakomat Kiosk at Marten River Provincial Campground. A paddle on a kayak or SUP on this large lake never disappoints and on a calm day, is suitable for beginners. Motorized boats also use the lake and windy days can cause large waves, so be aware of your surroundings and the weather forecast when you head out to explore. You will get to see a variety of waterfowl including pelicans, common goldeneye ducks, and common loons. Keep on the lookout for fish as this is a popular sport fishing lake and they can be seen jumping out of the water throughout the day. Early mornings and evenings set the stage with glass-like water conditions for amazing sunsets and rises and are popular with tourists and locals to get out and enjoy a paddle. Included with the rental is safety gear and a dry bag to keep your belongings safe. Pack a lunch and follow along the shoreline and do some exploring while creating memories.
