Frog Lake Historic Site

Frog Lake Historic Site in Frog Lake’s Lakelands region invites visitors to reflect on a pivotal and tragic moment in Alberta’s history. Set amid gently rolling hills in east-central Alberta, this quiet, contemplative site contrasts sharply with its violent past. Designated both a Provincial Historic Resource and a National Historic Site, it preserves the memory of the uprising at Frog Lake through tangible, thoughtfully maintained features. Visitors can follow an interpretive trail with panels that explore the historic context, pause at a commemorative cairn, and visit a small cemetery containing the remains of some of those killed here, creating space for learning, remembrance and connection.
