Hosted by the Red Deer Danish Canadian Club at the Danish Canadian National Museum. Sankt Hans Aften is a Danish Festival in celebration of the summer solstice that dates back to the days before Christianity and it also signifies the birth of John the Baptist. Danish families celebrate summer coming by lighting Bonfires to watch, make speeches and sing songs. Some of the bonfires are topped with a homemade puppet-like witch that burns with the fire to carry evil spirits far away. Come and join the Red Deer Danish Canadian Club in celebrating St. Hans Fest to enjoy a memorable evening with friends and family. They will have open-face sandwiches and dessert free to those who sign up before June 17th. Please sign up quickly because space is limited. If you cannot make supper, you are welcome to come and join them in the other activities in the evening. Hopefully, there is not a fire ban so we can light the fire, which is one of the highlights nevertheless you will have a wonderful time with the rest of the activities.
