Tay River Provincial Recreation Area

Tay River Provincial Recreation Area, located near Caroline in Alberta’s West Country, offers riverside camping with easy access to nearby trail systems. Set 16 km southwest of Caroline on Highway 591, this recreation area features campsites suited to both RVs and tents. Most sites sit in an open grassy field, with a few tucked along the riverbank for those seeking a quieter stay close to the water. Visitors can dip their toes in the river to cool off or cast a line and try their luck fishing. Campers can take advantage of the proximity to off-highway vehicle and equestrian trails, using nearby staging areas as a base for day trips. Off-loading or operating OHVs within the park is strictly prohibited, and machines must remain on trailers until they reach designated trail systems. Horses are not permitted inside the park, helping keep the campground relaxed and family-friendly.
