South Pass Trail - Lake of the Falls

Although not yet found on many maps, this trail is quickly earning a reputation as a premier route into the untamed wilds of the Bighorn Backcountry, offering one of the region’s most awe-inspiring ridgeline experiences & a backdoor into the picturesque valley of the Lake of the Falls. The first 4 km, a family friendly day hike, leads you through a striking contrast of big views, burnt timber, colourful regrowth & creekside meandering before reaching the Lookout. The next 3 km become more advanced with a steeper incline & light scrambling to SM Peak where you will have the option to summit Mount Henlsey or continue through the saddle to the South Pass.
