Saunders Campground

Saunders Campground, located near Nordegg in Alberta’s West Country, offers simple walk-in tenting that gives paddlers easy access to the North Saskatchewan River. Set in Saunders Provincial Recreation Area, this very small campground sits 22 km east of Nordegg along Highway 11, then 8 km south on an access road. Sites are walk-in only, creating a quieter, more rustic base for travellers who arrive under their own power. The campground is best suited to canoers and boaters launching or exiting the North Saskatchewan River, making it a convenient overnight stop on multi-day river trips. With minimal distractions and quick access to the water, it offers a straightforward place to rest, regroup and enjoy the surrounding West Country landscape.
