North Ghost Campground is a popular spot for the OHV crowd. It’s open from May 1 to Oct. 14, although an extension into November is possible if the weather is good. The campground is about 56 km (35 mi) northwest of Cochrane in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. It has 169 unserviced sites. The basic amenities include pit toilets, firepits and free firewood. Kids can enjoy the playground in the campground. A group use area can accommodate 20 units in unserviced sites. Water is available from a hand pump, but campers should bring their own drinking water. The OHV trails begin a short distance from the campground, which is located within the Ghost Airstrip Provincial Recreation Area, which also offers good hiking and fishing. Although the campground is closed in the winter, the area remains popular with snowmobilers and cross-country skiers.
