James-Wilson Provincial Recreation Area, located along Forestry Trunk Road (Highway 734) in Alberta’s West Country, offers quiet, scenic forest camping. Surrounded by natural forest landscapes between the James River and Wilson Creek, this small campground is well-suited to visitors seeking a peaceful outdoor escape. Guests can hike through the surrounding area, cast a line in nearby waters, or use the site as a base to access off-highway vehicle trails located outside the recreation area. To help preserve the tranquil setting, off-highway vehicles must remain on trailers while within the recreation area. With approximately 15 spacious campsites thoughtfully tucked into the trees, James-Wilson Provincial Recreation Area provides an intimate riverside retreat for campers looking to slow down, listen to the water and reconnect with nature.
