Open Farm Days | Hamingja - Heritage Farm & Nature Preserve

Hamingja - Heritage Farm & Nature Preserve in West Country offers guided 2026 farm tours that connect visitors with rare heritage livestock during Open Farm Days. Guests explore ancient sheep breeds like Soay, Navajo Churro, Gotland and Icelandic sheep through interactive demonstrations of carding and felting, gaining insight into why these animals still matter in modern agriculture. Visitors also meet the hardworking livestock guardian dog and learn how it protects the flock. Set on the lands and waters of the Blueberry Springs Trout Hatchery, the tour offers a close look at raising rainbow trout and the water and pasture needs of farms and nearby communities. Throughout the experience, the farm shares real-time awareness of drought challenges, water quality and practical water and pasture management across Alberta.
