Open Farm Days | Big Country Agricultural Society

Big Country Agricultural Society in Oyen offers hands-on farm tours, demos and family activities that bring Alberta agriculture to life. Visitors can join opening ceremonies at 1 p.m., then hop on a 40-seat bus tour to Prairie View Colony at 1:30 p.m. for an additional look at local farm life. Throughout the day, guests can watch stock dog, hoof trimming and cashmere yarn demonstrations, meet alpacas, cows and other friendly animals at the petting zoo, and enjoy free supervised horseback rides. Hands-on activities include butter and ice cream making, barrel train rides, a honey bee display, agriculture vendors selling local produce and artisan products, and fire safety activities with the local fire department. From 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., supper is available for purchase, with cash-only pricing for adults and kids 12 and under.
