Mîcisowin Maskihkiy: Food is medicine experience
Mîcisowin Maskihkiy: food is medicine experience in Alhambra offers Indigenous plant teachings that build respectful land connections. On October 3, 2026, Kiskinwahamâkêw Amie Prince leads this experiential gathering at Maskihkiy’s land-based site near Rocky Mountain House. Participants prepare body and spirit for foraging, gather and work with plants respectfully and explore medicines including usnea, pine sap, Labrador tea and plantain. The day includes open-fire cooking and a shared feast featuring bison and wild plants. Participants learn to prepare, dry and store gathered plants, make plantain medicine to take home and receive a learning booklet. Closed-toe shoes, layered clothing, long pants, a rain jacket, sun hat, water bottle and camera are recommended; garden gloves are optional.
