By far, Medicine Hat’s most visible landmark is the Saamis Tepee! Originally constructed for the Calgary 1988 Winter Olympics, the Saamis Tepee is a tribute to Canada’s native heritage. Built entirely of steel with a concrete foundation, the tepee is ringed with 10 large circular story-boards depicting aspects of native culture and history. After being moved to Medicine Hat, erection and assembly of the major structural elements of the Saamis Tepee began October 20th, 1991, and was completed in less than one week. Saamis Tepee is located on the Trans-Canada Highway next to the Tourism Medicine Hat Visitor Centre.

He also had the great fortune of being mentored by top American Blues artists like Brownie McGhee and Luther Allison, and Australian greats like Geoff Achison.Lloyd is at the top of the blues scene in Australia, and has been named one of the top Australian guitarists of all time. He puts on a complete performance that is entertaining from start to finish - from dazzling finger-work, to tear-jerking songwriting, with the addition of a bit of comic relief. The Lonesome Ace Stringband brings some of the best old-time, bluegrass, country music of today. "The Lonesome Ace Stringband is an old-time band with bluegrass chops that play some righteous folk and country music. There's a depth of groove and sense of space not often heard in bluegrass today, a level of instrumental interplay and vocal blend uncommon in old-time, and an on-stage rapport that transcends all of this. Three Canadians lost in the weird and wonderful traditional country music of the American South, the band members Chris Coole (banjo), John Showman (fiddle) and Max Heineman (bass) are each journeyman musicians and veterans of some of Canada's top roots music acts (New Country Rehab, The David Francey Band, The Foggy Hogtown Boys, Fiver). No strangers to the Medicine Hat music scene, you don't want to miss this opportunity to see The Lonesome Ace Stringband in concert! Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
