Rossdale Burial Site
Rossdale Burial Site in Edmonton offers visitors a quiet place to reflect on the history of this traditional burial ground and cemetery. Rossdale Burial Site was once a burying ground for Aboriginal people and others who lived in Fort Edmonton and the surrounding area, later becoming part of Epcor’s power-generating site. When human remains were discovered, the community committed to honouring those buried there, and part of Rossdale Road that crossed the burial ground was rerouted. A memorial was created, and the human remains were reburied during a special ceremony in August of 2006. The site is now legally designated as a cemetery or burial ground, offering a respectful space to acknowledge the people and stories connected to this historic place.
