Discovery Canyon

Fun in the sun is the goal at Discovery Canyon. The water park is the perfect place to cool down on a hot summer day. Even better? The park is free to enjoy and open from the beginning of June to the beginning of September. Discovery Canyon is 10 km (6 mi) north of Red Deer. The park features natural pools of water that are fed by the Red Deer River. The unique lazy river is complemented by a beach area and a large nature-themed playground. Families can bring their own tubes or rent one for $5 and then cruise down the gently sloped canyon, which is perfect for young kids. There’s also a wading pool for the park's youngest visitors. A concession with a full menu makes it easy to stay for the day. Informative signs throughout the park teach kids about the natural water cycle, which begins with a glacier and ends with the water reaching the Red Deer River.
