Wolf Lake West Provincial Recreation Area

Wolf Lake West is a remote wilderness escape just east of Edson – find it about 20 km from Highway 16 and another 53 km south via Wolf Lake Road. Set among impressive spruce forest with select waterfront campsites, this PRA offers rustic camping in two loops. It operates from May 16 to September 28, featuring 36 unserviced, first‑come, first‑served campsites (note: 16 sites are closed due to past wildfire damage). Amenities include boat launch, fish‑cleaning stations, firepits, pit/vault toilets, and a hand pump supplying non‑potable water—bring your own for drinking and cooking. A scenic Day Use area also provides firepits, boat trailer parking, casual trails for hiking, and great options for boating and fishing. The nightly camping rate is $25, and Albertan seniors are eligible for a discount. Wilderness lovers seeking peace and natural beauty will find Wolf Lake West deeply rewarding.
