Willmore Wilderness Park

Willmore Wilderness Park, located near Grande Cache in the Northern Rockies, offers remote backcountry trails for experienced hikers and riders seeking solitude. Ancient glaciers, rugged peaks, dense forests and wild rivers shape this 4,597-square-kilometre protected area. More than 750 kilometres of trails invite multi-day backpacking and horseback trips where wildlife is commonly seen and facilities are minimal. Visitors must be self-reliant, well-equipped and comfortable in true wilderness conditions. Access is via Rock Lake Provincial Park, Sulphur Gates Provincial Recreation Area and Big Berland Provincial Recreation Area, with equestrian facilities at Rock Lake and Sulphur Gates. Travellers should check the website for current trail conditions, facility closures, service changes, programming updates and safety information before heading out.
