Waskahigan River Campground

Tucked within the Waskahigan River Provincial Recreation Area, 37.5 km south of Valleyview along Hwy 43, this intimate campground delivers easy-going adventure with a true boreal backdrop. Shaded sites sit near the river’s edge, where the whisper of poplar and spruce sets a calm, unhurried tone. From camp, anglers can cast for their catch in the Waskahigan River or wander a mellow trail to the Losegun River to try their luck in new waters. The setting rewards early risers with wildlife sightings and quiet mornings on the bank. Explorers will find plenty of informal paths weaving through mixed forest and along the shoreline—perfect for unplanned strolls, kid-friendly rambles, and sunset photography. It’s a simple, scenic base that puts classic northern-Alberta nature—clear water, tall trees, and open skies—within easy reach.
