Vulcan & District Museum and Archives
Vulcan & District Museum and Archives in Vulcan’s historic downtown offers hands-on exhibits and local archives that bring prairie history to life. Inside one building, visitors discover two distinct experiences: a museum filled with recreated spaces and an archive preserving the region’s stories. Step into the former Prospect Slope School classroom, an AGT communications room with telephone switchboard, and the Vulcan Advocate newspaper office to see how daily life once looked. Explore Grandma’s kitchen, Grandpa’s workshop, early medical tools, musical memories, and military history linked to the former military airport west of town. Additional displays include a grain elevator interior and rural heritage scenes, while documents, photographs, history books, newspapers, and oral history videos offer a deeper connection to Vulcan’s early settlement.
