Valley of the 5 Lakes Hike in Jasper

One of Jasper’s most beloved trails has been closed since the 2024 wildfire, but its back, and the trail is stronger, safer, and more scenic than ever! Every step of the recovery was designed to protect the landscape and enhance your hiking experience. Valley of the 5 Lakes Hike in Jasper, offers a family-friendly forest and lakeside hiking experience with vivid views. This loop trail follows Trail 9a through lodge pole pine forest to a boardwalk over the Wabasso Creek wetlands, where visitors can watch for beavers in the first kilometre. Beyond the wetlands, the path climbs across a flowery meadow to a junction and continues toward Fifth Lake, known for its small island and nesting loons. From here, hikers follow 9a markers left past Fourth, Third and Second lakes, each showing a distinct blue-green hue due to varying depths. Between Second and First lakes, Trail 9b closes the loop, or visitors can continue north toward Old Fort Point via trails 9a, 9 and 1, mostly in the woods.
