Tom Trott Hut
Tom Trott Hut in Elkwater’s Cypress Hills offers a rustic backcountry stay with easy access to viewpoints, trails and dark-sky stargazing. Guests can hike to Horseshoe Canyon viewpoint to take in sweeping prairie views, then continue to Head of the Mountain, the highest point in the park, for standout night skies. The hut sits near a variety of hiking routes, making it a comfortable base for day adventures. In winter, the nearby Spring Creek cross-country trail system offers 10 km of groomed classic and skate skiing. Summer and fall access is by car or on foot via trails and roadways, while in spring and winter visitors ski or snowshoe in. The hut sleeps 6 in two bedrooms, with a wood stove for heat and solar-powered lighting, and is located about 6 km south of the Elkwater townsite.
