The King Edward Hotel

Step into more than 120 years of Calgary history at the King Eddy. Built between 1905 and 1907 as the King Edward Hotel, it was one of Calgary’s first hotels and served as a home and destination for travellers, settlers, railway workers and locals. The hotel became known for its lively atmosphere and, from the early 1980s, earned the nickname “Calgary’s Home of the Blues” for its legendary live music. After closing in 2004, the historic building was carefully preserved and reassembled brick by brick by the National Music Centre. Reopened in 2018, the King Eddy now combines its heritage character with a vibrant restaurant, bar and live music venue.
