The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland

Loading...

Located between downtown Calgary and the historic neighbourhood of Inglewood, The Confluence stands on the land where Fort Calgary was first established in 1875. Yet, this is only one chapter in the site’s deep and multifaceted history. At The Confluence Cultural Centre, visitors can explore stories of Indigenous culture, Treaty 7, the arrival of the North-West Mounted Police, and Calgary’s early beginnings. The centre’s newest permanent exhibit, Kípaitápiiyssinnooni (Our Way of Life), celebrates the enduring vibrancy of Blackfoot culture and traditions. Guests can further connect with the land through guided walking tours offered Wednesday to Sunday, or by visiting the replica 1888 Fort Calgary Barracks, home to rotating special exhibitions. Throughout the year, The Confluence also hosts a range of engaging programs—from gardening and beading workshops to lively trivia nights and film screenings—offering visitors of all ages meaningful ways to experience Calgary’s living history.
