The Big Boot in Edmonton is a four-storey neon cowboy boot landmark that offers travellers a quirky roadside photo stop and local icon to discover. Rising 39 feet 4 inches above the street at 10007 167 Street, this towering cowboy boot has watched over the city since it was completed in July 1989, back when the shop below was called Western Boot Factory. The boot stretches nine feet wide at the top and 16 feet along the sole, making it hard to miss from the road. After dark, more than 600 feet of neon tubing light up the boot, turning it into a glowing beacon on Edmonton’s west side. Travellers can swing by for a fun photo, admire a piece of local history and enjoy a playful slice of Alberta’s western spirit in the heart of the city.
