Syncrude Wood Bison Viewpoint

Syncrude Wood Bison Viewpoint in Wood Buffalo offers a peaceful spot to watch wild wood bison in a reclaimed natural setting. Visitors can see Canada’s largest terrestrial mammals grazing or resting in the sun, with opportunities to observe their behaviour from a respectful distance. The viewpoint highlights how former industrial land has been transformed, giving travellers a rare look at both wildlife and ongoing reclamation efforts. Since the project began, Syncrude has reclaimed over 4,000 hectares of land, and a herd introduced in 1993 has grown from 30 to about 300 wood bison, showcasing a thriving population.
