Sundre & District Museum in Sundre offers three distinct galleries where visitors can explore local history, wildlife and pioneer life. Inside the Niels Eskesen Reception Gallery, guests discover the stories of Sundre and area through exhibits that share the community’s past. The Chester Mjolsness World of Wildlife Exhibit features more than 170 taxidermy mounts from six continents, creating an immersive natural history experience that often leaves visitors in awe. Outdoors, the Pioneer Village spreads across four acres in the Riverside District, with historic buildings, picnic spots, horseshoes, murals and a memory fence. This seasonal village is open mid-May to mid-October, while winter visits are best planned by calling ahead. The Sundre & District Historical Society’s volunteers help create an inviting space where travellers can learn, discover and make lasting memories; most visitors should plan at least an hour to explore.
