Sulphur Gates Provincial Recreation Area

Sulphur Gates Provincial Recreation Area in the Northern Rockies offers an easy walk to dramatic river views from cliffside platforms. A 0.2-km uphill walk from the parking lot leads to several viewing platforms overlooking the confluence of the Smoky and Sulphur rivers. The walk takes about three to five minutes, making this striking landscape accessible with relatively little effort. Visitors should take care on the final platform, where the footing is more challenging but the views are especially rewarding. Covering more than 1,000 hectares, the recreation area offers wide-open terrain for a full day outdoors. It is also a main staging area for Willmore Wilderness Park. Admission is free, inviting families, nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts to slow down and take in the peaceful setting.
