Shell True North Pond

The Shell True North Pond is a prime trout fishing spot, located near Moonshine Lake Provincial Park, in the Shell True North Forest Conservation Site. The Alberta Conservation Association annually stocks the pond with trout, and there are hiking trails and abundant wildlife viewing opportunities throughout the area. The Shell True North Forest covers 1,700 acres, with the Ksituan River flowing through the middle. It is perfect for wildlife spotting, with large amounts of moose, elk, white-tailed and mule deer, as well as black bears, coyotes, and snowshoe hares. It is considered a great spot for wildlife enthusiasts and hunters. Getting to the Shell True North Pond: To access the pond from Spirit River, travel west on Highway 49 for about 30 km. At Township Road 791, continue to travel north on Highway 49 for another 400 m. Turn west into the approach and immediately north to the pond. Parking is available along the eastern shore.
