Sandy Beach

Sandy Beach Park is a popular riverside spot in southwest Calgary, nestled along the Elbow River. Despite its name, the shoreline is mostly rocky—but perfect for wading, skipping stones, or cooling off in shallow water. The park features picnic sites, fire pits, BBQ stands, playgrounds, and a boat launch for rafts or canoes. It’s a favorite for families, dog walkers, and anyone seeking a peaceful escape within the city. Recent upgrades are improving accessibility, adding new pathways, drought-tolerant landscaping, and more parking. Open daily from early morning to late evening, it’s a great place to relax, play, or enjoy nature by the water.
