Sagitawa Lookout

Sagitawa Lookout is located just south of the Town of Peace River along Highway 744 in Northern Sunrise County. The name Sagitawa comes from the Cree language, meaning “where the rivers meet,” a fitting description of this remarkable viewpoint. From the lookout, visitors are treated to spectacular panoramic views of the Town of Peace River and the dramatic confluence of the Peace and Smoky Rivers. It’s a perfect place to pause, take photos, and appreciate the natural and cultural significance of the landscape. The site features a picnic area and interpretive signage sharing historical context, geocaching, making it an ideal stop for travelers, history enthusiasts, and anyone exploring the region.
