Manning Battle River Pioneer Museum

Manning Battle River Pioneer Museum in Manning offers a family-friendly heritage museum experience with rare wildlife displays and hands-on history. Just east of town, visitors can wander a main building, log cabin, post office, Anglican church, blacksmith shop, machine sheds and a windmill. More than 15,000 artifacts showcase northern Alberta’s past, including a full-mount albino moose, timber wolf, cougar, grizzly bear, albino porcupine, buffalo calf, a two-headed calf and numerous birds. Over 75 working tractors from 1918 and up, 11 working vehicles from 1926 and up, and a 1912 Gaar-Scott working steam traction engine bring the machinery to life. On the Sunday of Heritage Day weekend, guests can enjoy an antique tractor parade, pancake breakfast, food booth, threshing demonstration and rope making. The museum is open daily from May 15 to September 15, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with off-season access by phone.
