Latitude 53
Currently located on the ground floor of the historic McLeod Building, just steps from where the gallery first opened 50 years ago, Latitude 53 is one of Canada’s oldest artist-run centres dedicated to supporting artists. The gallery exhibits local, national and international work, showcasing artists engaged with contemporary culture. Expect to see thought-provoking exhibitions and engage with artists in intimate workshops as part of the gallery’s offerings. L53 has presented significant exhibitions by notable Canadian artists in the formative stages of their careers. At its core, the gallery is driven by and for artists, with group shows remaining at the heart of its programming. Recent exhibitions highlight the collaborative, scrappy and local heart of the organization. Today, Latitude 53 is one of the largest and oldest centres in the Canadian Prairies, and it serves as a major centre for contemporary art in Northern Alberta. Admission to the gallery is always free. Drop by!
