This prairie gem is about 43 km (27 mi) northeast of Vulcan, offering 100 unserviced sites suitable for tents and RVs. The campground sits in Lake McGregor Provincial Recreation Area, which hums with activity in the summer. Campers can beat the heat with a swim in the lake. They can also go sailing, paddling, water skiing and windsurfing — a boat launch at the campground makes it easy to get out on the water. The fishing is good year-round, and the area is popular with birdwatchers who come to see the white pelicans and other species drawn to this prairie oasis. The recreation area also has mountain-biking trails and road-cycling opportunities. All campsites have fire pits, but firewood is not sold onsite. Water available from the hand pump is not suitable for drinking, so be sure to bring your own.
