The Kirk family are self-taught alpaca farmers — and quick learners For proof, consider that Kirk’s Alpaca Farm opened in 2019 with 38 animals. Five years later, that number had grown to 99 — and counting. The farm is just outside Three Hills, about 135 km (85 mi) northeast of Calgary. It includes a store that sells all things alpaca. Pick up a pair of the softest socks you’ll ever wear, mittens or a beanie-style hat. In addition to alpaca-fibre products, you’ll find alpaca-themed items like earrings, keychains and magnets. The farm also sells vegetables, eggs, pottery and more. Of course, the alpacas are the main attraction. You must book an appointment on the website to visit the animals (visitors are allowed to pet and feed them). No bookings are needed to visit the store or treat yourself to an ice cream cone.
