Located in The City of Red Deer, on the south bank of the Red Deer River, the Kerry Wood Nature Centre is Central Alberta’s year-round destination for environmental education. Visit the Nature Centre for hands-on natural history interpretation, interactive exhibits, unique books or gift ideas, and so much more. Located outside the Kerry Wood Nature Centre's back door lies the Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary, a municipally-owned 118-hectare park and federal migratory bird sanctuary. The Sanctuary is one of Alberta’s most ecologically significant areas, home to a diverse range of wildlife and fragile ecosystems. Five kilometres of walking trails, a bird blind, and viewing decks introduce you to a variety of habitats. Both the Kerry Wood Nature Centre and Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary are open year-round and free to visit!
