Inglewood Bird Sanctuary
Inglewood Bird Sanctuary in Calgary offers peaceful riverside trails and rich wildlife viewing for birders, families, and nature lovers. Just 5 km east of downtown along the Bow River, this 36-hectare wildlife reserve is visited by more than 270 species of birds, 21 species of mammals, 2 amphibians, 2 reptiles, 7 species of fish and 27 species of butterflies. Visitors can wander easy pathways, pause at viewing areas and bring binoculars to spot seasonal migrants and resident species in forest, field and wetland habitats. The nature centre features an exhibit hall, educational resources for families and wildlife enthusiasts, and a meeting space, and it records recent wildlife sightings. The sanctuary is open, including the north field, giving guests even more room to explore this protected urban oasis.
