Ice Walks

Ice Walks, located at the Athabasca Glacier in the Canadian Rockies, offers guided glacier hikes that reveal dramatic ice formations and mountain views. Since 1985, Athabasca Glacier IceWalks has led visitors onto a 6 km sheet of ice flowing from the Columbia Icefield with professional Association of Canadian Mountain Guides certified guides. Travellers can see deep crevasses, waterfalls plunging into the ice and learn how glaciers form and shape the surrounding landscape. Half-day (3 hr) and full-day (6 hrs) tours explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site and are suitable for children as young as seven. Guides focus on safety and comfort, providing equipment such as crampons and gloves. IceWalks operates from late May to early October, and hikes are considered moderate difficulty, not recommended for people with mobility, joint, balance, heart or lung issues.
