High Prairie and District Museum and Visitor Information Center

Discover the stories of the region at the High Prairie and District Museum, located in the heart of town, known as the Gateway to the Peace. The museum’s exhibits trace local history from precontact times—featuring fascinating stone tools and fossils—through to the development of the town, Big Lakes County, and today’s community life. Each display offers visitors a meaningful connection to the people and places that shaped the area. As an accredited Alberta Visitor Information Centre, the museum also provides an extensive selection of travel brochures, guides, and Peace Area museum information, making it both a cultural hub and a perfect starting point for exploring the region.
