Heart Mountain

Located in the Bow River Valley, just south of the hamlet of Exshaw, Heart Mountain was named in 1957 for the heart-shaped lawyer of limestone near the top. The Heart Mountain Trail offers a challenging, but rewarding, trek to the mountain’s summit. While only 2.8-km/1.7 mi one-way, the trail is very steep and involves scrambling up loose rock. At the top, you’ll experience heart-stopping views of the Bow Valley and Heart Creek Valley. You’ll find the trailhead off of the Lac Des Arcs overpass on Highway 1.
