Heart Mountain

For the most current information on trail closures and advisories, please visit the Alberta Parks website. The trailhead is located just off the Lac des Arcs overpass on Highway 1. The route begins with a gentle forested section, similar to Heart Creek Trail, before ascending steeply up the shoulder of Heart Mountain. This challenging hike rewards experienced adventurers with panoramic views of the Bow Valley and Heart Creek Valley. However, caution is essential: there are exposed ridgelines and narrow sections along the route that require sure footing and a head for heights. This trail is not recommended for those uncomfortable with heights or unfamiliar with scrambling, and it is not recommended in the winter. Distance: 5.6 km / 3.5 mi / Return Elevation: 745 m / 2,450 ft
