EID Historical Park

EID Historical Park in Scandia, Alberta, invites visitors to explore preserved prairie settlement history across 17 acres of historic grounds. Established in 1976 by local residents and farmers, the park sits on the old Canadian Pacific Railway right of way, reflecting the community’s roots. The Scandia Pool Elevator, built in 1927, was the first grain elevator in Alberta to be declared a historic resource, and its attached office still holds original paperwork, charts and scale tickets that bring the grain trade era to life. Nearby, the original Bow Slope Shipping Yards, also recognized as a Provincial Historic Resource, show where thousands of cattle, sheep and pigs were once weighed and shipped. Together, these sites form a massive historical collection that reveals how the region developed and why it became the largest irrigated district in Alberta.
