Dawson Equestrian Campground

Dawson Equestrian Campground, located in the Foothills near Dawson Provincial Recreation Area, offers year-round rustic camping for riders and their horses. Set in a scenic corner of Kananaskis, this small campground features a mix of drive-up RV sites and walk-in tent pads, with hitching rails, loading ramps, firepits, vaulted toilets and a hand pump for water. Travellers are encouraged to bring their own drinking water for convenience. With just five unserviced sites available on a first-come, first-served basis, it offers a quiet base for backcountry-style riding adventures. The nightly camping fee is $38 and includes space for two horses, with an additional $7 charge per extra horse, and eligible Alberta seniors may receive a discount on stays booked for May 1, 2025, and later.
