Coutts

Coutts, in Alberta’s Historic Plains, offers a convenient border stop with food, accommodations and places to rest before travelling on. The village has welcomed travellers since 1890 and is home to the 24-hour Canada–United States border crossing connecting Coutts with Sweetgrass, Montana. Drivers reach it via northbound Highway 15 from Montana or southbound Highway 4 from Alberta. NEXUS lanes into the United States operate seven days a week, while lanes into Canada open Monday to Friday, except holidays, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Travellers can pause for a meal, stay overnight or cool off at the spray park. Campgrounds are also available in the area. Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park lies 38 km (24 mi) east, adding a memorable Alberta stop to the journey.
