The Calgary Hitmen are a major junior ice hockey team that competes in the Western Hockey League (WHL), one of the three leagues that make up the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). Based in Calgary, Alberta, the Hitmen play their home games at the Scotiabank Saddledome, sharing the venue with the NHL’s Calgary Flames and AHL’s Calgary Wranglers. Founded in 1995, the team quickly became one of the WHL’s most popular and competitive franchises, known for its strong fan support and commitment to developing young talent. The Hitmen are part of the WHL’s Eastern Conference, and their season typically runs from late September through March, followed by the WHL Playoffs in the spring. The team has a rich history of success, including a WHL Championship and multiple deep playoff runs. They are also recognized for their community involvement and signature events like the Teddy Bear Toss, which draws national attention each year.
