Brazeau River Provincial Recreation Area

Set against the peaceful backdrop of the Brazeau River and nestled within a tranquil forest setting approximately 72 km north of Nordegg along Forestry Trunk Road (Hwy 734), Brazeau River Campground offers a simple yet scenic retreat for campers seeking a touch of nature. Open seasonally from May through October, this intimate campground features seven unserviced sites and requires reservations by phone. Amenities include a cook shelter, firepits, free firewood, pit or vault toilets, and a hand‑pump water source—though it’s wise to bring your own drinking water due to possible groundwater contamination. The site provides direct access to nearby recreational activities such as canoeing, kayaking, fishing, horseback riding, and OHV trails just beyond the recreation area boundary, creating a perfect base for outdoor adventures and quiet riverside camping.
