Nestled in the beautiful Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park, the Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation is a unique research and education centre that explores the importance of the boreal forest, especially for their migratory birds. This LEED gold building hosts new hands-on interactive exhibits, visitor information services, education programs for all ages, and a gift shop showcasing local artisans. During the summer season, you can also book special tours of the Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatory for a unique opportunity to watch avian research in action. After checking out the centre, explore the beautiful trails through the boreal forest including the Interpretive Songbird Trail or the Freighter Lakeshore Trail, part of the Trans Canada Trail. Open year-round, this centre also offers outdoor programs including cross-country ski and snowshoe loans during the winter season. Looking for some travel advice?
